MacRobertson Shield Day 5 - England beat Australia 16-5

[<<] [>>] by Samir Patel at Roehampton
29th July (The MacRobertson Shield)

England got over the line yesterday to win the test, but there were still four points to fight for on the final day at Roehampton. England got off to a flying start, winning the first game in all three matches, which turned into quick match wins by James Death & Samir Patel and Mark Avery & Jamie Burch with four triple peels.

However, that seemed to spur on Stephen Forster and Stephen Pearce who staged a revival to win their match, after which Stephen won the outstanding game which had been pegged down earlier in the test.

The evening saw The MacRoberton Shield Centenary Celebration which reflected on 101 years of this competition, with stories from tests through that time, celebration of some of the great players who were present, those who couldn't attend in person, and those we have recently lost from the Mac family.

Tomorrow is a travel day, with the teams making their way to the Sussex coast for the second round:

  • England v USA
  • New Zealand v Australia
