Cheltenham High Bisquers

16 entrants (a full house) became fourteen at the last minute leading to a hasty reorganisation of the draw by manager Adam Moliver.

Day One was three timed 18-point games full bisque with bisques reduced and then off a base of five.

Despite the dry weather leading to fast lawns a few players managed to peg out. .Other struggled with rather low scores .

The winners of the two blocks of four went into the semi finals on Day Two, as did the first and second in the Swiss-ish block of six. The first finalist was Bristol's Toto To who beat Fred Williams in the semi. The other finalist was Cheltenhams Peter Rowland having beaten John Rowley of Camerton (and Cheltenham).

The final, watched by many of the competitors, was won by Toto To 15-8.

Three players won the Bronze Award - (a ten hoop break with bisques and win the game.)

They were Toto To, Peter Rowland and Jane Turner of Llanfairfechan. Fred Williams, also of Llanfairfechan, will rue not taking a bisque to run what would have been his tenth hoop!

Those who had struggled on Day one had a coaching session with Darryl Whitehead and/or games with Adam intervening occasionally in the games.

Lessons learnt along the way included, don't run a hoop in the wrong direction, know the peg-out laws for handicap games and think about what to do if "golden hoop" is required.
