Roehampton welcomed two Spanish clubs, Club de Campo Vigo and El Tiro, and Newbridge from Dublin for the first heat of this years GC European Club league. The fine spring weather ensured the lawns were quick and new Quadway hoops were set firm.

The hosts proved too strong for the visiting clubs, losing only 3 games out of 30, so progressing to the finals at Southwick in October. Full results available on Croquet scores. Newbridge beat both Spanish sides and Vigo beat El Tiro 6-4 in a tight final match.

All clubs attended dinner at the Club on Saturday night and everyone enjoyed the fine weather, immaculate lawns and friendly competitive play. Now in its third season, the GC European club league is proving a very welcome addition to the croquet calendar.
