When the Women's World Champion Teams Up with the England Team Captain, Winning Will Always be on the Cards

Eight pairs started the best of three knockout on Wednesday 11 June at Nottingham Croquet Club, to compete for the prestigious Mixed Doubles Challenge Cups. This is part of the Men's, Women's and Mixed Doubles Championship which is contested annually.

Early success was taken by the Clarkes [Jenny Clarke & Chris Clarke], Chris reporting the second gave win with a straight triple peel. But their success would end in the semi finals following a loss to Beatrice McGlen & James Death in the Semi Finals.

McGlen & Death would then face Lines & Patel in the final. Death & Patel are regular partners in the Open Championship, so armed with the inside knowledge they have of each others game play, the match would likely bring spectacular play for the spectators to watch.

Both pairs chose to play the standard format of Doubles play, rather than Alternate Stroke which is becoming a far more popular variant. Lines & Patel won the match 2-0 and will now prepare for the Men's & Women's singles to begin Friday 13 June.
