East Dorset beat Surbiton 4-1

Several traffic hold-ups on the visitors' journey caused a late start but expeditious play meant that there were no long rubbers. By lunchtime East Dorset led 2-1 with singles wins, both in 2 games, for Keith Southern against Alan Grundy and Tim Hughes against Jane Powell while Bridget Goodman and Gavin Taylor won the doubles for Surbiton in 3 games against Greg Vaughn and Mark Hamann.

The afternoon singles were briefly interrupted by a sharp thunderstorm but quick wins in 2 games for Tim and Mark allowed the two remaining singles to be left unfinished at 1-1 in the interest of allowing the visitors to depart before peak rush hour traffic.
