Robert Fulford won the Ipswich handicap tournament by winning all of his games, with six wins out of six.

This was the first tournament at the new Ipswich lawns and it was played in good, if somewhat flagging spirits, on the hottest weekend of the year. The lawns were very fast and proved rather challenging for most players. Balls which players said they had only tapped gently going off the far end of the lawn.

Robert Fulford, however, coped very well and won the tournament on six wins out of six - these include a quintuple peel, a triple peel and a failed sextuple which only dissolved at rover. It was a good weekend for the Fulfords as Susan was joint runner-up with Alan Clark of Watford on four out of five wins each.
