Pauline Donner won the Hunstanton GC B-Level

[<<] [>>] by Terrey Sparks at Hunstanton
27th June 2022 (GC)

Eleven players entered this year's tournament down on previous years, but all the entrants fell within the 5 - 6 handicap range which led to some very close games and a high percentage closely finished on the 13th hoop. The weather was fine and all games were played under a very bright sun however, the temperature was kept to a reasonable level by a quite robust SW wind which at times made play difficult.

Due to a prolonged period of dry weather, the excellent Hunstanton lawns were very dry and therefore, very fast which led on occasions to very slow play and the latest finish.

Played utilising two blocks the winners and runners of each proceeded to a deciding semi-final between Pauline Donner and Steve Tarrant and Paul Williams against Martyn Palmer in which Pauline and Martyn triumphed by both winning 7 - 2 in which the scores did not reflect the closeness of the games.

The final game between Pauline and Martyn proved to be a very different affair and was of a very high standard and led to a very close finish in which Pauline triumphed by winning 7 - 6 after a very exciting finish and to deservedly take the trophy.

Winner: Pauline Donner.

R/U: Martyn Palmer.

3rd: Steve Tarrant.

4th: Paul Williams.
