North West Council Constituency

Uncontested Nominee

John Dawson

If elected I would bring to the new Council

  • Good strategic thinking
  • A good understanding of complex organisations
  • An ability to analyse complex problems
  • Experience of effective group working
  • Good listening skills
  • Wide croquet admin/ management experience at club, NW Fed and CA level.

Much of the above was gained during my 32 years as a senior HR manager with ICI in roles varying from autonomous subsidiaries to corporate.

Within the North West I have been the secretary of Chester CC for 6 years and the NW Fed rep for 3 years and have a good understanding of the needs of the NW clubs.

Within the CA I have been a member of the marketing & AC Tournament committees and have chaired the Publishing and Management Committees.

I played a major role on the Working Party which has steered through the constitutional changes to set up the new Council and to reduce the overlap and duplication in the management structure.

My vision of croquet for both the North West and the CA is "Better croquet played by more people in more locations". The challenge is to grow the limited financial resources of the CA and clubs and to ensure that the time of its many volunteers is deployed not only on the activities which support the playing of croquet ( AC &GC) at all levels across the country but also on initiatives which will bring more players and new clubs into our sport. An effective and visionary Council is crucial for croquet to thrive and grow both in the North West and across England and Wales.
